School is done, and what have I done? Finished building the MG AGE-2 and currently building the HG God Gundam. My ReZEL project is on hold until the clear parts I ordered arrived. Plan for AGE-2 and God Gundam is an out of box review and then custom paint them. Not sure what I’ll do with the AGE-2. For the God Gundam, I’m just going to do a hyper mode scheme. Not original I know, but this will give me an excuse to use my gold paints ^^;.
I’ll do a separate post about the Shizouka Hobby Show, but as of this post, the announcements I’m seeing are really underwhelming for me…

So the big announcement that was rumored about a week ago is the MG 3.0. I’m not sure how I feel about this yet. On one hand, this might be the new standard that master grades will have in terms of articulation and design. On the other, there are so many old MGs that haven’t even gotten the 2.0 treatment (MG Alex, GP-01, Double Zeta, etc) that skipping to 3.0 seems kinda wrong. So far there’s only a CAD of the RX-78-2 and all I’m seeing so far is a 1/100 scale Real Grade with the new hands from MG Nu Gundam ver Ka. I think it’s too early for Bandai to be doing a “3.0″ of their kits considering the fact that the newer MGs are still very well articulated and that the older kits that haven’t even gotten a 2.0 yet are now once again left in the dust.
What do you guys think? I know I’m not the only one with this opinion. 3.0 is too early to do now since we haven’t even done 2.0 of earlier Master Grades. And if this is the style that the new 3.0s are taking in terms of the MGs looking like RGs, than what was the point of the Real Grade line. Maybe my opinions will change come Shizouka, but for now, it seems all I’m seeing is more sliding armor gimmicks, which we have seen in older kits before too…

So I have bought very little gunpla during my 4 month break. But the yen to dollar exchange is going pretty favorable for my part, so I decided to buy something small. What I’ll probably do is review the HG kit by itself and than with the Razor parts on. I missed some pretty nice gunpla release. Kits like the MG Sinanju OVA version and MG Jesta will have to take a back seat for now.

In case any one ask, no I didn’t buy the MG ReZEL Type C with the Defensor Units. This is the original MG ReZEL release back in the 2010 that I’m painting in the General Revil colors. So far, got the white parts that goes around the thrusters and vents and the orange parts. However, the progress on this kit is going to stop until I get those clear yellow parts ^^.
