Real Grade Zeta Gundam Confirmed

Posted by Tom on August 10, 2012

So it looks like all the rumors and speculations were true, the 10th RG is indeed Zeta Gundam. First Impressions, it looks pretty nice as to be expected for Real Grades. I am concern about how it’s transformation would affect it’s general stability. It looks like Bandai is not going with a lot of different colors this time in order to make the kit more stable. I’m still wondering if it’s going to transform like it’s Master Grade counterpart, or will it be a parts-former.

What do you guys think? I’m pretty sure most of you are pretty excited for this kit. Me, I’ll get one too, since I have a HG Zeta and I thought it would be cool to compare both in time. Real Grade Zeta is scheduled to be released in November. No pricing yet, but expect it to be around the 2500 yen mark.

  1. Proportion and detail-wise, it looked amazing.
I’m pretty sure we’re all waiting for Bandai to announce it’s transformation gimmick.

I know that some people would complain if it’s a partformer, but I’m too scared to imagine MG Z ver.2.0’s transformation in 1/144 scale ;^^. I hope Bandai managed to cleverly do an nice gimmick that allows transformation without sacrificing the stability in the MS form. Maybe some sort of a locking gimmick…

Hate to say it but… It will follow the MG Zeta 2.0, in 1/144 scale. As any MG Zeta owner would say, the plate that connects to the thighs and arms WILL be an issue as those needed to be split and fold for the transformation. In 1/144 size, those parts can be dangerously thin, especially in supporting the weight and stresses.
Don’t know about you guys, but don’t you think that gap at the skirt skirt armour is a bit… TOO obvious?
Just worried that it’ll become an ExplodingBrick(tm) of a kit…

Finally, a proper view of the kit itself! I think a HGUC-style partsformer would be too much of a letdown to the fans, but copying the MG 2.0’s transformation wholesale would be a huge structural engineering challenge. Can’t wait to see what it’s like. The RG lineup is full of surprises.

the price are no longer in 2500 yen range since they are now using a new design for inner frame(obviously the transformable inner frame)
and yet still no image of wave-rider mode :|
